When I started my coding journey, I was very surprised about how supportive the tech community is. I received a lot of encouragement and help from various community groups, forums and colleagues. Once I started looking, I realised how many resources and groups are out there. I found a mentor who helped me through technical challenges and difficult days. I realised that words of encouragement had been just as important as the technical advice. Now I am making sure I encourage people around me who are interested in pursuing a career in a technical field.
