I research bacterial communities, in particular how they share genetic information and which bacteria coexist together. It always strikes me as odd how similar they are to human communities. They colonise areas, share resources, can live happily or in conflict with their neighbours and can change environments drastically. I’m reluctant to go as far as to say they have hobbies but there is an odd intricacy, and almost dance like quality, to the way some bacteria move and make formations.
