At 6, I wanted to be a teacher.
People said ‘You can’.

At 16, I wanted to be a scientist.
People said ‘You can’.

At 26, I wanted to teach scientists. I wanted to educate the next generation of researchers and doctors.
People said ‘You can’t. It’s a waste. Of your skills. Your training. Your time. Science is for doing, not for teaching’.

It floored me. Was I on the wrong path? Should I reconsider?
But I’m glad I listened to myself. Because they were wrong. I really did know best.

I’m right where I’m supposed to be.
