When I was young, there was a campaign called ‘girls can do anything’. I thought it meant there were no longer any barriers to women reaching their potential in STEM. What I found, however, is that the playing field is still not level – and not just for women. Being smart and working hard is only the beginning: find mentors and supporters who care about you and your aspirations, who will support you and your success. Be that support for others too. When we work together, respectfully and with equity as our goal, we will be able to do anything.
