Going into computer science, I fully expected a rigid, detached sort of experience. After all, writing code is just interfacing with 0s and 1s, with just a few more levels of abstraction. Honestly, I was okay with that – I love problem solving; understanding the logical parameters and necessities of a project. What surprised me the most, however, was that within the rules dictated by the logic of a language I found incredible space for creativity and freedom of expression. Realising that, coding stopped being a technical necessity, and became another way in which I am able to express myself.
