Since I was a child, I have always loved math, physics and other puzzling, yet fun, ways to understand what’s going on in the world. I grew up in Sri Lanka and went to convent school where the nuns were really strict and there was lots of homework! Then I went to the USA for university and graduate school. I didn't have any idea what I wanted to do, but I ended up studying, teaching and practicing therapeutic physics – radiation oncology. So now, I treat cancer patients with linear accelerators. They are like x-ray machines on steroids – pretty cool!
