Two things have surprised me: Firstly, as a 'mature student' with an arts background, pursuing my interest in science was possible. Secondly, in pursuing geology I came to see the interconnectivity of all science disciplines, where each play their part in understanding our universe from the microscopic mineralogy of immense mountains, to the smallest creature of our land and vast oceans.

There is so much of interest to explore – Learning is a lifetime pursuit!
