When I started my journey in the field of science, I never imagined I would end up playing with poo for a job! Completely unexpectedly, I found wastewater treatment to be an extremely interesting, multi-faceted and quickly changing field. It not only involves science, but engineering, mechanics, electronics, chemistry, biology, IT and statistics. In my predominantly male team, it is great fun mucking in with the boys, having a laugh and ensuring that Dunedin’s coastlines and rivers are safer places for both human and animal communities.
