The diversity of the sea floor in Foveaux Strait changed my life. The unexpected variety of animals — from octopuses and seahorses to sea squirts and bryozoans — motivated me to move here so that I could understand these animals and help to conserve the habitats they create and occupy. More surprising for me, though, is how much I’ve enjoyed being part of a team. I perceived myself as an independent worker, but the variety of people, skills, and personalities I’ve met makes my work both challenging and fun. For animals and people alike then, being part of a well-functioning team is best!
